What are the uses of Aglime?

Agricultural lime has been used by farmers for years as a soil improver. It's also a natural, low-cost way to enhance the effects of regular chemical-based fertilizers. By reducing soil acidity, aglime makes a huge difference to the productivity potential of both arable and grassland farming.

Is Pulverized lime good for grass?

Adding lime to the soil of your grass is an effective way to boost soil pH while also encouraging proper growth. Lime used for grass comes from natural limestone. The rock is finely ground and then used to treat the soil in lawns, gardens and other parts of the landscape.

How do you apply pulverized lime?

A spreader is the best tool for applying lime. Apply half of the recommended amount of lime by walking back and forth horizontally with the spreader, then add the second half by walking vertically. This way, your criss-cross pattern ensures the grass is evenly and completely covered.

Why do farmers spread lime on their land?

Lime is used to adjust the pH of acidic soils.

When the soil becomes too acidic (pH level < 5), it becomes a toxic environment for crops. There is, however, a way to overcome a situation where the soil pH is too low. When the soil becomes acidic, lime can be applied to the soil to increase its pH and reduce its acidity.

Does ag lime raise or lower pH?

Aglime is an agricultural liming material capable of neutralizing soil acidity, i.e., increasing soil pH.

Does lime reduce nitrogen in soil?

Limed soils also tend to release more nitrogen from the soil organic matter facilitating improved NUE. Applying lime every couple of years will help improve grass availability, raise soil pH and help condition the soil; this in turn will improve nutrient availability and soil structure.
